The best review software for oral surgeons (2026)
Full disclosure: we make Patientell, so yes, we're biased. Oral surgery is a hard case for reviews. Your patients are often sedated on surgery day, many never come back, and your PMS may be surgery-specific, which decides a lot about which tool fits.
TL;DR
Don't ask on surgery day. The patient is groggy and someone else is driving. Ask after the post-op check, when they're healing and relieved. That means a tool that connects to your surgery PMS and can trigger on the follow-up visit, or a QR your team hands out at post-op.
- Best for surgery practices on WinOMS: Weave
- Best reviews-first tool for OMS groups: Swell
- Best for detailed post-op reviews: Patientell (ours)
- Best free option: your Google review link

Why oral surgery is different
- Sedation. Never ask on surgery day. Wait for the post-op visit or a few days after.
- One-time patients. You get one shot at the ask, so the timing has to be right.
- Referrals. General dentists send you patients, but patients still check your reviews before they book.
- Sensitive procedures. Replies must never confirm the procedure, even if the patient mentions it.
1. Weave
- Best for
- oral surgery practices on WinOMS or another supported system
- Price
- Quote. Third-party reports put most dental offices around $250–$450/mo per location, plus a setup fee.
- Connects to
- Lists WinOMS plus most dental PMSs. Confirm your version.
Weave lists WinOMS among its integrations, alongside most general dental systems. It can handle phones, texting, reminders and review requests in one place. Confirm you can trigger the review ask from the post-op appointment, not the surgery.
2. Swell
- Best for
- multi-location OMS groups that want a reviews-first tool
- Price
- Per location. Dental association offers have run $179–$249/mo, often with 30 days free.
- Connects to
- PMS/EHR integration included. Confirm your surgery system.
Swell includes PMS integration in every plan, plus surveys and location roll-ups. Ask about your surgery PMS specifically and about controlling which appointment types trigger a review ask.
3. PatientellOurs
- Best for
- surgery practices that want detailed reviews from the post-op visit
- Price
- Quote. No contracts, no setup fees.
- Connects to
- Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Oryx and many more. Ask about surgery-specific systems.
This is ours. At the post-op check, the patient is relieved and grateful, and our patent-pending flow is built to get a detailed review out of that moment.
If your practice runs a general dental system like Dentrix, Open Dental or Eaglesoft, texts go out automatically. WinOMS isn't on our published list, so ask us before you assume. If it isn't covered, your team can hand out a QR at post-op, but Weave may automate more for you.
4. Your free Google review link
- Best for
- small practices with a disciplined post-op routine
- Price
- Free
- Effort
- All on your team.
Every Google Business Profile has a free review link and QR code. Print it on a card, put it at checkout, and have the front desk ask every patient before they leave. It costs nothing and it works better than most people expect, as long as your team actually asks.
The problem is consistency. On a busy Monday nobody asks, there's no follow-up text, and you have no idea who was asked and who wasn't.
Our pick
Check your surgery PMS against each vendor's list first, and ask each one whether you can trigger on post-op visits instead of surgery day. On WinOMS, Weave is the safest bet today. Whatever you pick, move the ask out of surgery day.
What we'd do today
- Check what triggers review requests today. If it's surgery-day checkout, change it.
- Add a review ask to your post-op visit checklist.
- Review your team's reply template and remove anything that confirms a procedure.
Questions
Is it safe to reply to patient reviews?
Yes, but never confirm that the reviewer is a patient or mention their treatment, even if they did first. HHS has fined dental practices for revealing patient information in review replies. Keep it to "Thanks for the kind words, we're glad you had a good experience." Whatever AI reply tool you use, including ours, have a human read every draft before it posts.
Can we only send review requests to happy patients?
No, and you shouldn't want to. Google's review policy says businesses must not selectively ask happy customers for reviews (called review gating), and the FTC's 2024 rule on consumer reviews cracks down on suppressing negative ones. Ask every patient. Any vendor that offers to filter unhappy patients away from Google is putting your profile at risk.
Does Patientell work with my practice management system?
Very likely. Patientell connects to Dentrix through a direct on-prem agent, Open Dental through its API, and Oryx through a cloud report sync. We also support Eaglesoft, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Denticon, Curve Hero, eClinicalWorks and many more. If your system isn't listed, ask us. Where there's no integration, the QR flow at checkout works on any system.

We checked prices and features for every product here in October 2026. Most of these vendors don't publish prices, so ranges come from third-party reports. This stuff changes constantly, so confirm with each vendor before you sign anything. And we're not your lawyer or compliance officer.
