The best Weave alternatives for dental practices (2026)
Full disclosure: we make Patientell, so yes, we're biased. We make one of the tools below. But the first question isn't which tool. It's which part of Weave you want to replace. Weave is phones, texting, reminders, forms, payments and reviews in one bill.
TL;DR
If you're leaving Weave entirely, you need another all-in-one, and on Dentrix that usually means Lighthouse 360 or Podium. If you like Weave's phones but your reviews aren't growing, you don't need to leave at all. Add a reviews-only tool and turn off Weave's review requests.
- Best if it's the reviews you're unhappy with: Patientell (ours)
- Best if you want surveys and employee feedback too: Swell
- Best all-in-one swap on Dentrix: Lighthouse 360
- Best if you want a texting inbox and payments: Podium

Why practices look for a Weave alternative
From what Weave users say in public reviews, it's usually one of three things: the total cost once setup fees and add-ons land, support that varies a lot from rep to rep, or one feature that isn't good enough. Weave is a lot of products in one, and it's rare that every part is the best at its job.
That's why the answer is often "keep Weave for phones, replace the weak part." Ripping out a phone system is a big, disruptive project. Swapping your review tool takes an afternoon.
1. PatientellOurs
- Best for
- practices that like Weave for phones but want more and better Google reviews
- Price
- Quote. No contracts, no setup fees.
- Connects to
- Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Open Dental, Oryx, Eaglesoft, Denticon, Curve Hero, eClinicalWorks and many more.
This is ours. Patientell does one thing: get more patients to leave detailed Google reviews, using a patent-pending flow. Review texts go out automatically from your practice software (Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Oryx and many more), or patients scan a QR code at checkout.
It doesn't replace Weave's phones, texting, scheduling, forms or payments. It sits next to them. No contract, no setup fee, so if it doesn't move your numbers you're not stuck.
What it won't do: surveys, employee feedback, or review sites other than Google.
2. Swell
- Best for
- dental groups that want reviews plus surveys and employee feedback
- Price
- Per location. Dental association offers have run $179–$249/mo, often with 30 days free.
- Connects to
- PMS/EHR integration included in every plan.
Swell is dental-focused and reviews-first, with patient surveys, employee feedback and AI-drafted replies. PMS integration is included in every plan.
Like us, it won't replace Weave's phones. It's the closest thing to a direct competitor we have, and if your ops team wants a full patient-experience program, it's the better fit.
3. Lighthouse 360
- Best for
- Dentrix offices replacing Weave's reminders and texting entirely
- Price
- Quote. Third-party reports put it around $329–$399/mo.
- Connects to
- Made by Henry Schein One, the company behind Dentrix. Works best with Dentrix; supports other PMSs.
Henry Schein One makes Lighthouse 360 and Dentrix, so the integration is about as native as it gets. It's built around reminders, confirmations and recall, with two-way texting, forms and review requests.
The catch: it isn't a phone system. If you're leaving Weave's phones too, you'll need a separate phone provider. Some users also say the product feels dated.
4. Podium
- Best for
- practices that want a shared text inbox, webchat and text-to-pay
- Price
- $399/mo (Core) or $599/mo (Pro), on a 12-month contract. Phones and some AI features cost extra.
- Connects to
- Integrates with the big dental PMSs, but it's built for all local businesses. Ask to see it on your system.
Podium is the closest to Weave's texting-and-payments side, and its prices are public: $399/month for Core, $599/month for Pro. Phones are an add-on.
It's built for all local businesses, not dental. Plans are on a 12-month term, so read the renewal terms before you sign.
5. Birdeye
- Best for
- groups that care about Healthgrades, Yelp and listings, not just Google
- Price
- Quote. Third-party reports put it around $299–$449/mo per location on annual contracts, with onboarding fees.
- Connects to
- Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental and thousands of other apps.
Birdeye is a full reputation platform: reviews across dozens of sites, listings management, surveys, and benchmarking. If you're leaving Weave because its review monitoring feels thin, Birdeye is the opposite.
It's usually sold on annual contracts with onboarding fees, per third-party reports. For a single office that only cares about Google, it's more than you need.
When to stay with Weave
If your phones, texting and forms work and your team knows them, stay. Switching all-in-one platforms is a months-long project that touches every patient call. If reviews are the weak spot, fix only that.
Our pick
Only unhappy with reviews: keep Weave and try Patientell next to it. Want surveys and employee feedback too: Swell. Leaving Weave entirely on Dentrix: Lighthouse 360 plus a phone provider.
What we'd do today
- Write down the parts of Weave your team uses every day. Those are what an alternative has to cover.
- Find your Weave renewal date and notice period. Don't let it auto-renew while you're deciding.
- If reviews are the only problem, demo a reviews-only tool. You can be live without touching your phones.
Questions
Is there a cheaper alternative to Weave?
For reviews alone, yes: Swell's dental offers and reviews-only tools like Patientell typically cost less than an all-in-one. For phones plus everything else, compare against the full bill you'd be replacing.
Can I keep Weave and use another review tool?
Yes. Turn off Weave's review requests so patients don't get two asks.
Does Patientell work with my practice management system?
Very likely. Patientell connects to Dentrix through a direct on-prem agent, Open Dental through its API, and Oryx through a cloud report sync. We also support Eaglesoft, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Denticon, Curve Hero, eClinicalWorks and many more. If your system isn't listed, ask us. Where there's no integration, the QR flow at checkout works on any system.
Can we only send review requests to happy patients?
No, and you shouldn't want to. Google's review policy says businesses must not selectively ask happy customers for reviews (called review gating), and the FTC's 2024 rule on consumer reviews cracks down on suppressing negative ones. Ask every patient. Any vendor that offers to filter unhappy patients away from Google is putting your profile at risk.
Try Patientell
Patent-pending review system for dental practices. Works with Dentrix, Open Dental, Oryx, Eaglesoft and many more. No contracts, no setup fees, live in under 24 hours.
We checked prices and features for every product here in October 2026. Most of these vendors don't publish prices, so ranges come from third-party reports. This stuff changes constantly, so confirm with each vendor before you sign anything. And we're not your lawyer or compliance officer.
